Dear EMMS Community,

If you missed either the Math or Reading MAP testing, you will be notified and makeups. Reading will be next Wednesday, 10/21, 9 to 11 and/or 1 to 3, and math will be Wednesday, 10/28, same times.Congratulations on all those who have completed the MAP testing these past two weeks.

 

Students will receive a Canvas email with a Google Meet Code for the reading makeups by Monday afternoon, 10/19.

There is only 3 weeks left in the first quarter.  Remember to check frequently for missing assignments on Canvas.

If you need interpreting service in your home language for November parent/teacher conferences, please contact Mr. Sung Kim at sung_kim@hcpss.org with your child’s name, school, grade, and the language you need. Please send your request by Friday, 10/30/2020.

EMMS Instructional Seminars for Students Still Accepting Applications

Does your child like public speaking, photography or making films? Maybe they love to read, love history or want to learn about the stock market. These are all opportunities Ellicott Mills students can participate in through the Instructional Seminars offered by Mrs. Adelman. (Betsy Adelman, betsy_adelman@hcpss.org).

[URGENT] Please complete the Intent to Participate in Hybrid In-Person Instruction Survey Open Through Oct. 23, 2020: The Howard County Public School System and Board of Education are evaluating possibilities for a hybrid instructional model for the second semester, beginning February 1, 2021, which could include opportunities for in-person instruction. A hybrid model could provide an option for parents/guardians to send their child to school part of the week and learn virtually for the remainder of the week. Read More.

The Council of Elders (TCOE) Community Academy: Please join us Saturday, October 17th 9:00-10:30am for an engaging session regarding how to effectively maintain communication with your child’s school. HCPSS teachers will be on hand to show parents how to monitor students’ performance by utilizing school system online resources. Additionally, families will receive strategies to help ensure successful parent-teacher conferences. This session for families of students at elementary, middle or high and will be held virtually. HC DrugFree Updates for Parents/Guardians: HC DrugFree and the Howard County State's Attorney's Office, partnering with HCPSS and the Health Department, will once again provide an evidence-based classes for families to gain skills and knowledge to reduce the risk that their children will use drugs. This 4-week series will be held online from 6:30 to 8:00pm on Tuesdays, October 20th, 27th and November 10th, 17th. HC DrugFree Drive-thru EpiPen, Medication and More Collection: Howard County's next convenient drive-thru collection for over-the-counter and prescription medication and “sharps” (needles, syringes and EpiPens) will be held on Saturday, October 24th between 10:00am and 2:00pm in the Wilde Lake Village Center parking lot near the Swim Center and The UPS Store.
